Budget alerts
Budget alerts watch your spend so you don’t have to. Create them under Budget Alerts and they evaluate automatically — on the refresh schedule and at the end of every scan.
Alert types
Section titled “Alert types”| Type | Fires when |
|---|---|
| Budget threshold | Period spend crosses your chosen tiers (e.g. 50% / 80% / 100% of budget). |
| Budget forecast | The month-end projection exceeds the budget — early warning while you can still act. |
| Metric condition | A metric (total spend, a service’s cost) crosses an operator/value you define. |
| Engine finding | A scan surfaces a new finding matching your filters (type, minimum severity, minimum savings). |
Creating an alert
Section titled “Creating an alert”- Click New Alert and pick the type.
- Set the scope — whole estate, a Cloud Group, specific subscriptions or accounts.
- Set the amount/thresholds and the currency the budget is defined in.
- Choose delivery channels and recipients.
- Save — the alert shows as Active and starts evaluating.
Delivery channels
Section titled “Delivery channels”Alerts deliver to email, Microsoft Teams, and Slack (webhooks). Use Test on an alert to send a test notification and confirm wiring.
How firing works
Section titled “How firing works”- Threshold tiers fire once per tier per period — you won’t be spammed as spend sits above a line.
- Engine-finding alerts fire once per new finding — a finding you’ve been told about won’t re-alert unless it disappears and comes back.
- Check Now evaluates your alerts on demand — useful right after creating one.
History
Section titled “History”Each alert keeps a fire history: when it fired, the trigger, actual vs threshold values, and which channels delivered. The analytics panel summarizes fires by severity and channel over the recent period.
